Dearest Ato!

So it is only 17 hours before the Olympic opening ceremony...must be exciting. I want to send you a very GOOD LUCK in Athens! I have followed your career for the last 10 years and I have to say that no other atlethe can be so professional both on and off track. You represent all the best values a person could ever have. I hope that you achive your goals, and leave Greece with a gold medal, because you really deserve it. I´ll keep my thumbs up for you! :)

And remember: Pain is temporary, pride is forever!

I have to admit that it's an unexpected surprise to see so many trinidadians rally around one of their own without any criticism; or maybe i'm just cynical. Anyway i love u're website and I wish u the best of luck. U deserve it.

hey ato,
when i first started hearing all the talk about you being 'done' i was very upset seeing that you gave so much to the country. after a few nad races people were basically calling for you to retire. but as you know thats how trinis behave. i have faith in you i was very honoured to see you race this year and mash up all the young, talented sprinters in 10.09 after shutting it down this year. reach for gold in athens, do your best, whatever it is we'll be proud!!!

You are the best 100m runner not to win an Olympic gold in my lifetime, Yet people write you off, I have not … champions rise to the occasion when hope (to those that doubt) seems all that is left …. I will be Athens cheering for you like never before!

You have competed fiercely but as a gentleman, and with honour, and will be remembered for that long after the gold medal winner in Athens is forgotten.

Ato, hit the semi, get the final draw, and don’t worry about who is behind you, just find that line…. and become immortal….

Ato, when I first watched you (age 21 I think) you began slow and blew the field away. later (Olympic games etc) you began better than you finished. You have both ends of the race, In Athens I believe destiny calls you to put them together!

I remember the pain in Atlanta (I was certain gold was yours that day), but then Christie’s two false starts effected you, and your false meant you had to dwell to ensure you where not disqualified.. I was in the stands when from the unfavourable lane 8 you gave Maurice the scare of his life in Sydney.

Hi Ato

I am sorry to see that yet again you are having injury problems. I have to ask a question though, you have been injured for most of the season and your form has been poor by your own standard, dont you think you should give up your Olympic spot and give one of your younger country men a chance. I saw that two athletes from Trinidad ahve performed well the other day in the 100m. But I know you are not selfish and will make the right decision.

Ato:

Quite the contrary. Despite the injury, I have the fastest time of any of them, and WON our Olympic trials despite being injured. An Olympic 100m spot is earned, not won in a lotto.

As a trini living in another island it sometimes becomes difficult when I cheer for you but what ... a trini is a trini so keep the flag flying and with God all thinks are possible. I will keep you in my pray and keep cheering for you. Keep praying on that injury and you will receive a mircle. Faith.
