Your final 100m dash wasn't what all of us dream about but I empathise with you. Injury can really do it to athletes. I enjoyed ALL that you have done for us Trinis. Now we should walk tall and proud because we were blessed with a Great Son that feared no one and competed galantly for a nation of 1.3million. I have adopted your magical verse from the Bible and have my wife read it daily. Heb 12 1-2. Thank you for flying our Red White and Black.

I was disappointed that over here in Canada they didnt show your 100m races, but still i checked up on them everytime there was a race to be held, Ive talked to you once in the past on this site, and for you to actually come on and talk and acknowledge your fans is truly unique. I came on and saw that you would be retiring after the 4x100m In Athens in a few days, which i guess marks the end of a great career. You have been possible one of my favourite sprinters of all time, your attitude towards the sport is great, and you are truly one of the greatest sprinters of all time. When that 4x100m is contested in Athens, If T&T wins gold, or even if you come dead last, pick up the flag and do a victory lap, to top off your career.
Been great watching your races and following your career.

What a thrill it's been to watch you and read about you over the years. This blog is especially touching to me because I was one of your UCLA writing teachers. I recall what you wrote about doping in track and field, how articulate you were about yourself and how both cordial and candid you were with your writing partners, and how articulate you've been with the press -- my son, a fairly little boy at the time, can quote what you said to NBC when a reporter asked you what Trinidad should give you if you brought home the gold in 2000: "Tobago." You're such a model for young people of all passions and talents. Proud to know you, JW

It's really a comment and not a question. I am a fellow countryman. It is with sadness I read your comment on this site which had the tone of a farewell. Another comment said that the relay may be your last race. You would know best, without doubt. I am proud of you. You have fought a good fight.
Whatever course you choose to take from here on, it's just another race and your experiences would ensure that you are an even greater runner. Always keep Hebrews 12:1-2 in mind and keep this website going.

Man, as you know I have totally supported you over the years. The news of your retirement is one of those times in your life that you know has to come but you wish it won't. Something like whenever Brian Lara calls it quits... man, say it isn't so.

At the very least, and the very most I, and we all, can say we lived and witnessed one of the greatest track and field athletes of all times. Not only a man on the track, but one who ran off-track as well in the form of the best Track and Field Website on the Internet - hands down! No other site has, and I daresay without fear of opposition, has or ever will capture the hearts, minds and attention of Track and Field fans all over the world.

You brought a much needed dimension to sprinting, one that no other athlete was able to bring.

I will like to give you the honorary title "The Muhammed Ali of Track and Field", I am sure many others will agree.

Best of luck in you future endeavors man... it's been real!

Ato, you are and will still be forever an Olympian to me. Trough the years I've known you and your wife, you've been and are wonderful people. I know how much you've struggled with your injuries and feel how hard it must have been to make this decision. It takes a lot of courage. See you when you get back home.

I must admit...it is tough looking at the inevitable end of an era...

We all knew it has to happen some day but that never makes it any easier...Ato you had your time and represented us and made trinis smile again...and very importantly broke the long olympic medal drought we have had.

You truly were an abassador...I know this for a fact because when I tavel and meet many different people from around the world and tell them that I am from Trinidad many of them (especially europeans) say the only thing they know about Trinidad is Ato Boldon.

Forget the haters...You have nothing to be ashamed of and you are a national hero.

Ato you are a true inspiration, not only for people who have to face the challenge on the track, but also for people who have face a challenge in life. I would to thank you for being this rolemodel who showed us how to run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

Ato you have proven to be a true ambassador for Trinidad & Tobago and as you stated in you article the time has come for you to pass the torch to the younger generation. We your country men and women truly appreciate your efforts over the years and would like to thank you for your patriotism when you had the choice of running for the USA.

In ending, I will like to say that we are and will always be proud of you.

GOD'S SPEED!!

Ato--of course disappointed to learn of the result (even more at NBC's f***ed up coverage, but that's another thing), but you've done so much for your country and the sport, there's nothing to be ashamed of. Keep your head up, looking forward to the big farewell run (that is, if we even get to see it here in the States).
All best as always,
Mike

Nice of you to drop a blog from Athens. Was wondering how come you took so long to blog. Guess your preparations have been intense. I found the first paragraph of the blog funny of course. Certain folks are busted without even getting a test. ha ha ha.

Anyway I wish you the best man. And I hope you get what your heart desires. And thats really nice of you to go and Cheer for Bovell. I too was cheering for him. Kudus for him.

I Wish you God's blessings in all your endeavours even after your career is over.

Merci
