Ato is plagued by back
injuries at Worlds and finishes 4th in the 100m dash in 9.98.
He does go on to create
national history with his country as he leads them to a bronze medal
in the 4x100m relay, a first in that event for Trinidad and Tobago.
The IAAF still ranks Ato
3rd in the world in the 100m at season's end, with a best time of 9.88
for 100m.
Edit: Ato's results get
upgraded to 2nd at 4x100m and 3rd at 100m after Tim Montgomery is
erased from history for doping, in 2005.
